After HTC built one of the most desirable (sorry for the pun) Smartphones of 2010 they made pretty good on their promise of updating it to as many versions of the OS as possible until the hardware could no longer support, a pretty good deal if you were one of the hundreds of thousands of desire owners all across the world, below is the direct excuse quote from HTC as to why they have not made an official gingerbread ROM for one of its most (and androids most) successful Smartphones ever.
Our engineering teams have been working hard for the past few months to find a way to bring Gingerbread to the HTC Desire without compromising the HTC Sense experience you've come to expect from our phones. However, we're sorry to announce that we've been forced to accept there isn't enough memory to allow us both to bring Gingerbread and keep the HTC Sense experience on the HTC Desire. We're sincerely sorry for the disappointment that this news may bring to some of you.
and to comment on thatexcuse reason as to why they are not porting gingerbread to the desire... how did the wildfire S come into being ? like Vince from Tracy and Matt said the Wildfire S has a slower processor ,the same amount of ROM and LESS RAM, so how comes the ildfire S runs gingerbread pretty smoothly without any hiccups ?.
Farewell desire, you will be relegated to the hacking community to show HTC what they should be able to do , make us proud
